The aim of the Global Studies® series is to help the reader develop a basic understanding of world regions and countries. All of the eight volumes in the series have been designed to provide a foundation of information about a specific region's culture, geography, economy, politics, history, and religion. There are a number of organizational features that are included to make them particularly useful in the classroom--regional essays, country reports, articles from world press sources, bibliographies, and a glossary of terms and abbreviations. All of the regional essays and country reports are written by an expert in the area, and each include maps, current statistics, and timelines. Included in the Global StudiesŪ series will be a list of key World Wide Web sites. These sites will be carefully selected and annotated.
