How to Best Use the Web
The Six Step Method

STEP 1:

Find definitions of telnet, usenet, FTP, and gopher on the Internet Literacy Consultant's Glossary of Internet Terms page, which defines Internet terms from ADN to WWW.

STEP 2:

Read a brief overview of all that the Internet has to offer.

STEP 3:

Reinforce the brief overview with PBS' more involved Understanding and Using the Internet. The PBS site offers downloads for browser applications for listening to audio, watching video, and basically getting your money's worth out of the World Wide Web. Take the PBS Internet Trivia Quiz to see how much you really know about the Web.

STEP 4:

Feel comfortable using the internet by viewing the How the Web works.

STEP 5:

You've followed Steps 1-4 and taken the Internet Trivia Quiz. Still not enough? Saint Louis University's A Student's Guide to Research with the WWW goes beyond the basic Internet guide to educate you on using the Internet for research.

STEP 6:

If all your questions have not been answered by now, visit the University of Chicago's page of World Wide Web Frequently Asked Questions. Chances are good you will find your answers there.
