Do you know someone who is successful at choosing his or her courses and major? Initially, did this person accept a period of indecision when he or she began college? What kind of research did this person do to determine his or her major? Does this person’s major fulfill his or her interests? How has this person figured out their strengths and weaknesses when choosing his or her major? Is he or she able to choose courses that match his or her college goals? Does this person frequently meet with their college advisor? What essential tasks does this person take in order to move forward toward completing his or her college career? How does he or she do it? Would others benefit from his or her experiences?
If so, nominate this person to be the focus of the Speaking of Success feature in chapter eleven of the next edition of P.O.W.E.R. Learning. In a brief essay, written in the space below, explain why you feel this person would be a good choice as a role model for successful time management. Be sure to use specific examples of his or her success. Broad generalities won’t suffice. At the end of the semester, all students using the text and this Web site will be allowed to vote for their choice, although you will not be able to vote for your nomination. The student receiving the most votes may be featured in the next edition of the text, if he or she so chooses. You can view the current entries here.
