The Case of... The Test, The Exam, And The Quiz Chapter six asks you to focus on taking tests. In higher education, tests evaluate your ability to comprehend the subject matter of the courses that you study. What types of exams do you feel more comfortable taking: essay, multiple-choice, true or false, matching, short answer, or perhaps, fill-in the blank? Why do you think that you favor one style of exam than another? Do you study and read your notes aloud while answering potential essay questions? Or do you prefer cramming? Do you feel as though that you prepare thoroughly and take a realistic view of a test so that you are able relax during the exam period? Since the major focus of this chapter is test taking, have you decided which method of taking tests you do best? How do you adjust your test taking method to classes that seem to contradict it? In the box below, jot down some of your successful test taking techniques and tips for your fellow students to use. Other students may profit from your experience of taking tests and learn a few helpful hints as well. In return, you will be able to see how others prepare or use strategic test taking techniques. In the box below, explain the method you find most successful in taking tests. Other students may profit from your knowledge and experience, or you may get some helpful ideas from other students as well.
