Chapter 3 Overview

Looking Ahead

We don't all move through life on the "road less traveled". Some of us are quite content to walk on roads well traveled. What is important, however, is that we know where we want our road to take us. As a college student, you have a rare opportunity to learn, not only facts and figures about a particular discipline, but also about yourself and how to prepare for a career. Do you know what your ultimate goal is? Do you believe that you can reach your goal no matter how hard you have to work at it? Is your goal truly indicative of your personality and your interests? Will your goal fulfill your hopes and dreams and still put money in your pocket? Now is the time to find out.

This chapter will help you:

  • assess your values and determine how they apply to your goals
  • examine your personality so you can better understand how you will reach your goal
  • consider your learning style so you can utilize it to better complete your class work
