Diagram of Spinal Reflex

In the knee jerk reflex, the lower leg swings forward quickly when an area just below the knee is tapped. In order for this relfex to occur, a message travels through a sensory neuron to the spinal cord, where an interneuron carries it to a motor neuron, which sends the information to the leg muscle and causes the movement.
