PET Scan
The Positron Emission Tomography (PET) technique allows scientist to view brain activity while the subject is engaged in mental activity. The subject is given an injection of radioactive glucose. The PET scan records the areas of the brain that are actively utilizing the radioactive glucose for energy. In this image the subject on the left was asked to listen subjectively to sequences of musical notes, Note that the subjective experience was focused in the right hemisphere, whereas the analytical experience was focused in the left hemisphere.
